MYP & DP Design Teacher
JOB DESCRIPTION / KEY EXPECTATIONS
The Design teacher will work collaboratively with other department members and support teachers as needed to develop common unit plans, effective and engaging learning experiences and assessment strategies congruent with WAB's assessment guidelines and curriculum. The Design teacher will, whenever appropriate, employ an inquiry-based approach and differentiate lessons to support the needs and interests of individual students. The Design teacher is expected to serve as a mentor teacher, contribute to the extra curricular activities of the school and be involved in school development. The Design teacher is supported by the HS Head of Design in the implementation of the design curriculum, assessment and reporting processes.

Knowledge and application of:

Contemporary teaching and learning theories and practices

General Design content for MYP Design (G9-10 IB MYP) and DP Design (G11-12 IB DP)
Personal Skills and Abilities:

Skills in working with a range of students of different abilities and backgrounds

Skills in inquiry based and concept driven approaches
-
Creativity, resilience and love of diversity
At least two years working experience:
-
As a full time Design Teacher in a classroom setting
-
With diverse students from a range of cultural and educational backgrounds including those with EAL, learning support and enrichment needs (preferred)

Teaching IB MYP and/or IB DP (preferred)
Qualifications:

Bachelor degree (specializing in Design)

Recognized Teaching Qualification and/or Registration

Completed IB MYP and/or IB DP workshop (preferred)
