Librarian
The Cybersecurity system engineer will be responsible to conduct the tasks pertaining to the protection of the computers, network, systems and data across the whole organization. This includes executing Cybersecurity projects, troubleshooting security issues, test and identify vulnerabilities, participating in the change management process respond to the security incidents or breaches.
About Role
The school librarian is an important member of the school team, an active leader and communicator who collaborates with the school community to build a resource center that meets the needs of the whole school, as well as promotes the effective and efficient use of the library and library resources. This full-time position that incorporates working as a research teacher (0.5FTE) and as a general librarian.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Vice-Principal, Primary Principal, Secondary Principal
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• To create a positive, engaging learning environment in the library
• To foster a love of reading in the school
• To align the library program with the mission and objectives of the school
• To develop, record and maintain the library resources including literature, reference material, multimedia, textbooks and databases
• To collaborate and support the teachers and students with appropriate learning resources
• To empower students to become readers, thinkers and ethical users of information
MAIN TASKS:
• Map research skills throughout the continuum
• Organize reading sessions during lunch time
• Select, acquire and develop an appropriate collection of resources in different formats
• Develop a collection with a multicultural range of authors that reflects cultural diversity
• Organise the collection to ensure maximum use
• Plan the layout of the library to suit the needs of all age groups and be aesthetically pleasing
• Plan special events like book fairs and author visits, reading competitions
• Ensure the smooth running of the library on a day to day basis
• Promote ethical use of information
• Participate in curriculum meetings and collaborate with home room teachers in order to support the instructional process
• Co-lead research sessions for PYP Exhibition, MYP META Projects, MYP Personal Projects and DP Extended Essay
• Impart information literacy skills to students
• Prepare and administer the library budget
• Supervise and train library staff Xi’an Liangjiatan International School
• Remain current in professional practices
KNOWELEDGEABLE
• Have a detailed knowledge of current educational pedagogy
• Fully understand the need to cater for the social, cultural and developmental backgrounds of learners in program implementation and curriculum resourcing • Have a comprehensive understanding of literacy, literature for children and young adults, curriculum and specific programs in schools
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Master’s degree in library and information studies
• Previous work experience in a school
• Should be computer literate and familiar with the use of library software like Destiny Follett
• Ability to work in a team
• Good organizational skills
