Senior Student Support Manager

Job Outline:

A Senior Student Support Manager has an important managerial role within the Department of Campus Life to support the department in developing and leading a faculty-based student affairs team to ensure its service delivery and sustainability. The role holder will build effective and professional working relationships with the faculty, essentially focusing on a holistic portfolio of integrated services in wellbeing support, student engagement and CPC affairs in line with the University strategies and government directives.



  • Postgraduate degree plus extensive work background in the context of international higher education;

  • Minimum three-year experience of working in an administrative role of student related services;

  • Excellent planning and organizing skills and communication skills;

  • Excellent IT skills in a wide range of software packages;

  • Proven change management and project management skills;

  • Proven coaching and motivating skills;

  • Proven problem-solving skills;

  • Tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.


  • Proven experience and leadership in a role in CPC branches;

  • Minimum three-year experience in CPC affairs;

  • Extensive experience of dealing with student emergency.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide leadership to the faculty-based student affairs team and further promote standard operating procedures of DCL-Faculty integration as a whole university approach;

  • To provide oversight to service delivery relating to student wellbeing including day-to-day pastoral care, mental health support, and emergency support;

  • To define the overall objectives of student-cantered support and ensure its professional obligations for integrated services with appropriate guidelines and budgetary frameworks;

  • To provide guidance and oversight to the FHSS’s pastoral care model that integrates resources across faculties, student affairs professionals and housing stakeholder;

  • To provide leadership to design and implementation of extracurricular programmes for FHSS students that aim at educational purposes, holistic development and diverse campus experience. Consult and co-operate with other areas of the University to develop new/improved processes and supporting systems; 

  • To provide oversight to CPC building at FHSS and ensure that all objectives as defined by the University Party Committee and the government should be properly achieved;

  • To work closely with key stakeholders at UNNC in supporting international students, including retention strategies, intercultural communication, social inclusion and cultural experience;

  • Participate in training and staff development events as trainer or trainee as appropriate.

  • Maintain appropriate professional development, expertise and awareness;

  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.
