Performing Art Teacher

Purpose of role:

The Performing Art Manager is responsible for the design, delivery, and management of essential types of performing arts including music, dance, and theatrical events at University of Nottingham Ningbo China. The person in this position can be a specialized performer with professional education, training and work experience in stage performance or other forms. Responsible to the Director of Campus Life, the Performing Art Manager takes full responsibility to organization, quality control and development of various means of performances taking place as campus events or outreach initiatives in due course. The job description may be subject to revision following discussion with the person appointed and forms part of the contract of employment.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Professional skills in music, dance or theatrical events.

  • A minimum of 2-year coaching experience in performing art contents including but not limited to theory and practice under professional or non-professional contexts.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

  • Professional training in art-related subjects plus hands-on experience in a similar or related roles.

Desirable

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.

  • Effective time management and organizational skills.

  • Skills in project management.

  • Demonstrated exemplary success in music, dance or theater education.

  • Experience in organizing and delivering performing art projects and events.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in music, dance or theatre.

  • Certification in professional art performance including but not limited to music, dance and theatre.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Be responsible for the creation of performing art projects in music, dance or theatre, coordinate all related events and make improvement in line with industrial trends.

  • Plan and conduct regular production meetings with faculty, professional services and students regarding art events and activities.

  • Organize art troupes and provide coaching and support to regular practice and rehearsals.

  • Create, update, share, and maintain a master calendar for scheduling of events and activities at UNNC and conduct production meetings to aid in the coordination of activities.

  • Maintain a running inventory of technical equipment, recommend and order new equipment as needed in conjunction with the development of UNNC Arts Centre.

Art Education

  • Develop students’ educational portfolio in the area of music, dance and theatrical initiatives at UNNC.

  • Work closely with faculty and professional services, plan and manage credit-bearing programs that increase students’ knowledge about performing arts.

  • Coordinate regular competitions internally and externally to promote students’ competency in performing art categories.

Outreach and Branding

  • Schedule and coordinate with local schools and the community on participation in selected events.

  • Identify areas of collaboration with local community and other external stakeholders within the performing art portfolio of UNNC.

  • Provide suggestions to the creation of promotion materials such as posters and videos for performing events and activities.

Professional Development

  • Participate in training and staff development events as trainer or trainee as appropriate.

  • Maintain appropriate career development, expertise and awareness.

Others

  • Alternate work schedule which will include weekends, evenings, and long hours.
