Secondary School MYP Science Teacher
Responsibilities and Duties
Using Daystar's Planning Framework, our teachers:
-
Plan scaffolded and differentiated learning experiences aligned with clear standards-based outcomes
-
Utilize varied and effective instructional and assessment strategies, including structured and guided inquiry approaches and problem-based learning, to engage all students in rigorous, meaningful, and authentic learning
-
Utilize standards-aligned formative and summative assessment data to inform instructional planning and delivery
-
Engage in reflective practice and professional development aimed at improving classroom practice
-
Collaboratively plan with Chinese and English colleagues within and across disciplines Beyond classroom academic instruction, our teachers:
-
Create a safe and supportive classroom environment that encourages critical and creative thinking
-
Communicate effectively with all Daystar community stakeholders, including students, parents, colleagues, and administrators
-
Support whole-child development as homeroom teachers and advisors and/or projects supervisors (e.g. MYP Community/Personal Projects, Extended Essays)

Collaboratively plan and participate in co-curricular activities and events
-
Other duties, as assigned by the Secondary School Principal
Qualifications & Requirements
-
Possess a strong foundation in discipline-specific content (NGSS middle school sciences) and best instructional practices (required)

English as a mother tongue (required)

Bachelor's degree (required); Master's degree (preferred)

Valid teaching certificate or proof of qualified teacher status (required)

Experience working in a bilingual setting (preferred)
-
Must be open-minded and demonstrate an interest in living in China and working at a school committed to developing bilingual and bicultural students

Fluent in communicating in English and Mandarine (preferred)
